These recruitment periods result in an invitation to join, in anticipation of full membership. Potential new members must undergo an education process for their organization before becoming fully initiated.

Interest Groups

Interest Groups

Another way to join the UGC community is by starting an interest group! An interest group is a group of men or women who come together to create a new fraternity or sorority experience not currently offered at the University of Kentucky.

Contact the Fraternity and Sorority Life Office at fsl@uky.edu if you are interested in starting a new interest group.

How to Join

Fraternities and sororities within the United Greek Council (UGC) individually coordinate their membership intake and recruitment opportunities. To provide a centralized location to learn about each organization, the council hosts its annual "Hang With UGC" event during K Week. At the event, students will be able to design hanging decorations, such as door signs and mini canvas, while enjoying free snacks and refreshments with UGC members

It's important to notice that K Week events only occur at the beginning of each fall semester. It is highly encouraged that you contact chapters through their email or instagram and express personal interest for more information on how to join

If you are still unsure about which organization to join after viewing our website, please contact our President to set up a meeting

Every chapter has their own respective GPA requirement and are always in search of members with a GPA that further exceeds that requirement.

Fraternity and Sorority Life Fee

Many of the resources provided to chapter and individual members of the fraternity and sorority community are made possible through the Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) Fee. This $30 fee is automatically added to the students' online account with UK, and is processed the same way as tuition or lab fees.
